Hawk Cove, Texas, March 17, 2026. We’re pleased to report that Hawk Cove’s sewer system remains one of the most welcoming in the county. At the Council’s March 17, 2026 regular meeting, the Council heard that on February 20 a lift station “got clogged up,” at a cost of $2,514.93. The cause: “somebody put some socks in there” (0:02:20).
Pictures of the pump’s impeller were passed around the room so the Council could see, in the words of the report, “what those socks did and how much it cost to get that out of there” (0:02:51). There were two clogs that period, and “Both times it’s being clogged up with wipes and feminine products” (0:04:35).
Highlights
- February 20, 2026: a lift station clogged by socks. Cost: $2,514.93.
- March 13, 2025: at about eight in the morning, a lift station overflowed. It “was reported to TCEQ,” and the cause was “a pump that had burned up.” That night, at about 9 p.m., “the second second pump went out” (March 18, 2025 meeting, 0:01:09).
- Price of a pump: “anywhere between three and six thousand dollars a pop” (0:02:51).
- Blowers: “there’s three blowers that are supposed to be operational.” Some years back, “the system was broken into,” and “they stole it” (0:04:31).
The Council has shown real patience on the blower. On August 19, 2025, it asked whether a replacement had been bought. “The purchase of the blower by itself is going to be $20,000. That’s not including the installation.” Had one been purchased? “Not yet” (0:04:54, 0:05:34).
The message to residents has been consistent and clear. “They’re not flushable. Don’t flush those” (March 18, 2025, 0:02:22). And as the Council was told the same evening, every bit of it “goes towards the city’s cost of operations” (0:02:59).
We thank everyone for keeping their socks on their feet.
